April 15, 2020 by prolonews Leave a Comment

After several hours of research, we determined that the best wireless mouse today is the Logitech MX Master 3 . This model with a worked design offers a revolutionary wheel, a laser sensor that works on any surface and an extremely fast charge. As a bonus, it corrects the error of its elders by being better adapted to the different morphologies. We still advise gamers to turn to the Logitech G903 , more suited to their specific needs.

Why trust us ?

The Selectos editorial team spends thousands of hours researching, analyzing and comparing products in order to find those that offer the best value for money.

None of our articles are sponsored. We sometimes receive a commission when you buy a product through our links, which allows us to finance our work while remaining completely impartial.

How did we choose?

To get rid of cables on your desk, you probably thought of wireless mice. But because of their large number, it is sometimes difficult to find which one is best suited for your use.

To help you in your choice, we therefore tried to determine which were the best products currently offered on the European market.

To do this, we looked at certain criteria:

  • Shape and ergonomics : the mouse must be compatible with the shape of your hand to ensure good grip and excellent comfort. The model that suits you may depend on the size of your hand and the preferred hand you use (left or right handed). Most mice are designed for right-handers, but there are models for left-handers or ambidextrous ones. Weight is also taken into account because a heavier model will tire your wrist faster.
  • Mobility : the advantage of wireless is to be able to enjoy your mouse away from the office. It is therefore important that its size is suitable: aim for lightness and compactness. Autonomy should not be left out either. In parallel, the sensor must be as versatile as possible: the optics are affordable but have more difficulty with reflective surfaces where lasers are versatile.
  • Precision : as Emilien ( MacWay ) specifies , your use will determine the degree of precision required: the higher the value, the more the precision will be increased. Expressed in DPI (Dots Per Inch, or dots per inch in French), it allows you to adjust the sensitivity to movement. For example, gamers will turn to mice with higher values. Besides, if you are looking for a mouse specifically cut for gaming, do not hesitate to consult our dedicated comparison .
  • Commands and functions : some products offer a more or less extensive range of commands and functions. Linger on it to choose the options you need. For example, Logitech offers use on several devices in parallel via the Easy-Switch, some products have configurable profiles and still others are equipped with a whole panel of buttons which avoid you having to depend on your keyboard all the time. . Again, the use for which you intend your mouse matters.
  • Connectivity : like wireless keyboards , some mice work via a USB adapter, which is faster and more reliable, others favor Bluetooth. Whatever happens, consider the maximum range and latency so that you get the best experience possible. Higher-end models usually add wired use so you don’t get stuck with a lack of battery.
  • Compatibility : check the compatibility of the mouse with your computer model. Generally, Windows and MacOS are provided, but for others such as ChromeOS or Linux, it is sometimes complicated to find the perfect device.

We therefore started with around thirty models present on the European market. Thanks to these criteria, we restricted the selection for the first time to a dozen mice. Finally, by consulting the opinions of users, blogs, forums, English-speaking and French-speaking sites, we arrived at a selection of 6 wireless mice belonging to different price ranges.

NB: For optimal use of your mouse, do not forget to equip yourself with a mouse pad . The latter offers more precision and reduces the risk of fouling of your device.

Our Choice: Logitech MX Master 3

At the cutting edge of technology, it is the best model available from us, both in terms of comfort and comfort. It takes up the torch of the Master 2S , improving an already very enticing recipe.

Thinner while remaining original, it is more comfortable and better suited to different body types. The space dedicated to the thumb is reworked to offer more intuitive access to the different buttons, which corrects one of the main faults of the previous version. On the other hand, its weight (141 g) is rather high compared to the competition (90 g for the best).

In mobility, this template can also be a problem because of the lack of compactness. However, with an announced autonomy of 2 months and a quick recharge (via USB-C!) Of 1 minute for 3 hours of use, you are not likely to run out of fuel.

Detection is ensured by the Darkfield sensor. Usable on most surfaces (even glass), it benefits from good precision with its resolution of 4000 DPI. On the other hand, forget about gaming, because its update time of 8 ms (against 1 ms as a gamer) is too high (there is a risk of dropping out).

Level orders, you are entitled to six configurable buttons via the dedicated application. For these, you can download predefined profiles (for the Office or Adobe suite, for example) or configure them entirely by yourself. The button on the thumb rest activates motion detection, allowing you to assign functionality to each direction (like multitouch touchpads).

The disengageable MagSpeed wheel uses a new system based on electromagnetism. This makes it significantly quieter than the previous version and more pleasant to use. Scrolling is 90% faster and 87% more precise. On the side, you will find the traditional wheel, which gains in fluidity.

The Master 3 can, like the K780 keyboard , connect to 3 devices simultaneously (via USB or Bluetooth receiver).

As a bonus, you will find the Flow function, to work on several devices in parallel, and the Smart-Shift which automatically switches the wheel from one mode to another in the event of a slightly faster pulse.

To summarize, with the Logitech MX Master 3, you will benefit from the best that is currently available. It is compatible with Windows, Linux and MacOS.

The best cheap wireless mouse: Logitech M590

This interesting model is offered at a reasonable price given its functionality. But it is above all its silent operation, its exceptional autonomy and its great compatibility that have led us to distinguish it from its competitors.

Small and light (101 g), it is comfortable and very pleasant for long periods of use. It fits easily in your bag for all your travels.

Its high autonomy is another important advantage, since it can, for standard use, keep the same battery (AA) for 24 months. It is much more than its direct competitors.

Another special feature of this model is that it is silent. Noise pollution is reduced by 90% which makes it very practical in a professional environment or for quiet spaces.

In terms of movement, detection is ensured by an optical sensor. It is therefore better to bring a mouse pad so as not to be surprised on certain surfaces. Its 1000 dpi sensor is very correct in this price range.

Like the MX Master 3, it also has Easy-Switch technology, useful for connecting to several computers at the same time and Flow for working on different devices simultaneously. This function is not found in all the models in this range.

It connects via a Unifying Dongle, which synchronizes it to the computer, or via Bluetooth, with a wireless range of up to 10 meters, which offers the possibility of keeping control remotely. It consists of configurable buttons and a multidirectional wheel of a rather remarkable precision, allowing a total grip on the mouse.

Finally, note that the Logitech M590 is compatible with Windows, Mac, Chrome OS or even Linux, which makes it almost universal in terms of compatibility.

In short, it is an interesting model, offered at a reasonable price given its functionality. But it is above all its silent operation, its exceptional autonomy and its great compatibility that have led us to distinguish it from its competitors.

The best mid-range wireless mouse: Logitech MX Master

First generation of the MX range that has become a reference, it inaugurated the atypical format well known today. Its various configurable controls and its worked ergonomics always make it a very good product. Be careful however, if you have small hands, comfort may not be at the rendezvous because of its fairly large size.

Intended for office use, this mouse has been worked for long periods of use. Its rounded back is designed to guarantee good hand support while still allowing use in the claw or fingertips. However, this format makes it uncomfortable for small people who will find it difficult to find a suitable position.

The coating is qualitative, as much on the top with a slightly grainy plastic (to fight against perspiration), as on the sides with a design and non-slip material.

On the left side are the wheel, inaugurated with this model, and 3 buttons (including one hidden under the thumb rest). Many users report an unintuitive positioning of the navigation keys but their use is a matter of habit.

In mobility, it is not the best student. You are in front of a relatively massive mouse weighing a certain weight (145 g). It therefore takes a little space in your bag but you will have no complaints about its autonomy: 4 min charge for 1 day of use and 3 hours for a full charge which lasts about 40 days.

For accuracy, it uses the Darkfield sensor, still used on the last iteration. Precise and all-terrain, it adapts to each situation without any trouble. Its precision is however lower with a value of “only” 1600 DPI. Rest assured, it is high enough for work in Photoshop, for example.

As on the other models of this series, the dedicated software allows to program all the buttons with personalized functions. The wheel, again disengageable, has the SmartShift. On this product, some users note a lack of stability of this element.

Connectivity level, you are entitled to a USB dongle and Bluetooth, coupled with Easy-Shift. These are compatible with Windows and MacOS. It is also compatible with other systems but the configuration possibilities are reduced.

In the end, even if it is older, the MX Master remains a benchmark for its price level.

A cheap alternative: Logitech M330 Silent Plus

Although it is less sophisticated than the Logitech M590, it remains inexpensive while offering impressive autonomy and quiet operation. It does not have as many features as its competitor but, for basic use, it is among the best.

The Logitech M330 comes in a classic, rounded shape. And even if it looks a bit cheap, it is actually both solid and very light (91 g). On the other hand, because of its small size, it is especially recommended for small hands. The advantage of this format is its portability which, combined with a battery life of 2 years (1 AA battery), makes it a good tool on the go.

The main feature of this wireless mouse is its Silent Plus technology, which offers (almost) total noise reduction and makes it silent, allowing you to work in any environment without disturbing anyone. The notched wheel also offers this advantage.

The mouse works with an optical sensor, reducing its use on certain surfaces. Like the M590, it cannot be used on glass. However, it can be used on a multitude of other soft surfaces such as a bed or a sofa. Which is not that bad !

With its maximum sensitivity of 1000 dpi, it is suitable for office use lasting several hours. By cons, contrary to what is announced, it is too reactive and therefore not recommended for gamers.

Its connection is made via the USB-Unifying receiver (which allows to synchronize the mouse with the computer) with a wireless range covering a distance of 10 meters, but it does not offer the opportunity to connect via Bluetooth. However, it adapts just as well to Windows as it does to Mac OS.

Finally, although it is less sophisticated than the Logitech M590, it remains a good solution for anyone looking for a solution without breaking the bank.

A mid-range alternative: Logitech MX Anywhere 2S

Like the MX Master, it is equipped with a disengageable wheel, but its less bulky format makes it much easier to transport. However, on the flip side, the grip is less suitable for large sizes who will find it too compact for a palm grip. This last factor is very important, especially if you plan to spend your day using it.

This light mouse (106 g) with the correct design and master key has a symmetrical design. Thus, it can be used as much by left-handers as by right-handers … even if it is intended more for its last with its side buttons on the left side.

In addition, it benefits from an autonomy of a few months due to the use of several hours per day. The battery recharges in no time, but you can use it while it is charging.

It is fitted with the same Darkfield sensor as the brand’s high-end MX Master 3. It therefore adapts to all surfaces, smooth or reflective, including glass while enjoying great precision. However, it should be noted that it is not so suitable for gamers, but rather for professional office use because too fast movements escape the sensor.

One of the advantages of this mouse is the presence of a detachable wheel, usually intended for more expensive models. Even if Logitech has often experienced problems at this level, it seems that the brand has corrected the situation with this model. The seven buttons are configurable with easy-to-understand software.

Level functions, we still benefit from Flow and Easy-Switch which offer the possibility of working on several computers at the same time, for the benefit of productivity.

Its radio link via Unifying nano-USB sensor is effective, but it can also be connected via Bluetooth. Its wireless range is ten meters, and it is compatible with Windows and Mac OS.

In conclusion, this mouse is a nice alternative to the MX Master while being more suitable for small hands.

A high-end alternative: Logitech G903

Like the MX Master, it is equipped with a disengageable wheel, but its less bulky format makes it much easier to transport. However, on the flip side, the grip is less suitable for large sizes who will find it too compact for a palm grip. This last factor is very important, especially if you plan to spend your day using it.

A high-end alternative: Logitech G903

The Logitech G903 is a wireless mouse that combines speed, precision and versatility. Ergonomics and design are also part of its strengths. It could therefore have been the best in its range but it is far too specialized compared to the MX Master 3. Indeed, in terms of office automation, the G903, although fully customizable, is less practical than its counterpart in the series MX.

Its angular design and its RGB system do not make it a model of discretion. In terms of ergonomics, this ambidextrous model with reduced dimensions and low weight (110 g) offers a pleasant grip, both in the palm and in the claw. The sides can be completely personalized thanks to the various removable elements, which allows, as a bonus, to make it a real mouse for left-handers.

Designed at the base for wireless use, this product can also be used in wired mode when charging. Its maximum autonomy is 180 hours but for average use, its resistance is approximately 140 hours with a reliable connection. To optimize this mode, you will need to buy a Powerplay mat that is quite expensive and not very attractive on the go.

You will understand, the gaming orientation is not beneficial to mobility but, despite this, the G903 is doing quite well with a good optimization of its format.

It is in performance that the G903 takes the lead. Fast and precise, its HERO sensor offers five programmable sensitivity levels, for the benefit of a certain versatility. Its maximum resolution is 16,000 dpi. Combined with Lightspeed technology and its near-zero latency (1 ms), this high value makes it possible to deal with any situation at stake.

Equipment level, the disengageable wheel is combined with a maximum of 11 buttons. Everything is configurable via Logitech G Hub software. Thanks to it, you have the possibility of adapting the usage profile according to the situation in which you are, whether for games or office automation.

In summary, the Logitech G903 is an ergonomic and versatile wireless mouse that is mainly suitable for gamers while leaving them the possibility of office use.

Honorable mentions

Logitech G305 : mid-range solution for gamers, it takes advantage of Lightspeed technology to cancel any latency. Compact, enduring and qualitative, it is the perfect ally for your parties. With Logitech G Hub software, you can also configure up to 5 profiles for your favorite games. It is not in our ranking due to its lack of versatility but players with a tighter budget will be delighted.

Logitech MX Vertical : the Vertical is ergonomic. Thus, it allows a better position of the wrist (angle of 57 °), reduces muscle tension by 10% and allows better economy of movements thanks to its high sensitivity. As a bonus, it offers a good autonomy of around 4 months and access to Logitech Flow and Easy-Switch. We excluded it from our selection because of the reduced number of features.
