I am in a lot of pain and I have
needed to escalate my pain medication to narcotic strength. Can I be
helped?
A. Yes you can be helped, but it will only happen after you stop
taking the narcotic
pain medication. We do not prescribe those drugs because they
are addicting, they ruin people’s lives, and they prevent
Prolotherapy
from doing the excellent job that it usually does for chronic
back pain.
If you are already addicted, work with you current physician to wean
off of them. Find a substitute, or just stop completely under your
doctor’s supervision. Some of these patients actually have LESS pain
immediately after they get off the narcotics. Then you are a
Prolotherapy
candidate, and in most instances will benefit
greatly as the cause of the pain is addressed.

I am currently trying to wean myself off narcotics also...not just to
undergo Prolotherapy, but for health concerns (trust, me I feel your
pain! It's not easy). In doing so, a friend who has also taken this
journey recommended a whole bunch of great tips for me, but the best one
I want to share with you is this. Massage therapy and essential oils
have really been doing wonders for me! Eucalyptus especially!! I take a
hot bath in it daily & my husband (who also has back problems) and I
give each other a quick 5-15 minute massage each night. Eucalyptus is a
natural anti-inflammatory,
antibiotic, and antiseptic. There is a wide
range of eucalyptus varieties, though not familiar with all, mine just
happens to be eucalyptus globulus.... Good luck, and I hope this will
help you as much as it has helped me!
